Plose top
To Brixen’s “house mountain” and back into the bishop’s town.
A difficult tour: first on the side road then on gravel road towards the 2486 meters altitude Telegraph. On top the view of the Isarco valley is unique. The uphill efforts are rewarded with a long downhill into town.
We start at the biking Hotel Goldene Krone and leave the town towards east, cross the two rivers Isarco and Rienza, continue for one km and, arrived at the wood chapel, turn right into the hiking path n° 5-6 (603 m).
We follow the large path until we reach the term aced road (200 m before the old Maria am Sand church in Millan). We ride a short uphill to the left, cross the creek and follow the first route no. 7-8 and then the no. 7. Moving on from the town of St. Andrea we finally arrive at the valley station of the chairlift Plose at 1060 m.
The cable car takes us to 2050 m as we enjoy great views over the Isarco Valley. Once in Kreuztal we climb back into the saddle and, in front of the magnificent panorama of the Dolomites we first pedal to the Hut Plose then continue on route number 6 to Mount Telegraph, which is, with its 2,486 m, the highest point of the Plose massive. Passing the huts Plose and Ochsenalm we reach the road. The descent to the Gostnerhof first, then the No 146 in the direction of S. Andrea is traveled on paved road. Turning right at the second intersection and taking the dirt road no. 4-5, we head towards Brixen.
Enjoy the high-altitude mountain bike! Experience the climax at Mount Telegraph at 2,486 m with spectacular views. The signs will show you the panoramic mountain ranges in front. After the extraordinary descent from Mount Telegraph you’ve earned a good glass of red wine from South Tyrol. Get advice from the innkeepers of St. Leonhard and St. Andrä.
