WoodyWalk … this is the ideal family round trail! As the first part of the Dolomites Panorama Path this stroller suitable trail offers a breath-taking view of the Peiterkofel, Aferer and Vilnösser Geisler. Along the way there are numerous attractive points which invite you to stop and enjoy yourself for a while.
Height difference in ascent and descent: 100 m, distance 5 km, follow routes No. 17, 17A, 14
Description: From the mountain station of the gondola lift you turn southeastwards to the chapel and continue on route No. 17 across alpine meadows. At the bifurcation follow path No. 17A (left hand side) passing by the old Rossalm, you will reach the higher new Rossalm (2200 m). The way back to the gondola lift is on the forest path No. 14.
Restaurants on the way: The Restaurant La Finestra is located right next to the top station of the gondola lift. The Mountain Inn Geisler is only a hundred meters away. After 2,5 km walking you get to the Mountain Inn Rossalm, from where you walk back in the direction of the gondola lift, again.
The first part of the hike to Skihütte, literally translated “Ski Hut” runs along the Dolomites Panorama Path to the junction with the Rossalm. On this track you will already experience a fantastic view of the Peitlerkofel and the Geisler. At the first fork the path changes into an old forest road. In the beginning you will walk on the forest’s border, then into it and when you finally come out you will reach Skihütte.
Height difference in ascent and descent 100 m, distance way to Skihütte 2,5 km, route No. 17
Description: Starting from the cable car take route No. 17, go south-eastwards to the chapel and continue eastwards. Take the high level path on the right crossing meadows always continuing eastwards. At the bifurcation follow path No. 17. With a few ups and downs it will take you just 300 m from Skihütte. The last part is on the skiing slope.
For the way back you follow the same trail in the opposite direction. There is also the option to follow route Nr. 6 until you reach the Rossalm ( approx. 45 min) and from there on hike No. 14 back to the cable car. From Skihütte you can also continue for Schatzerhütte, path No. 8, about 45 min walking and then turn back.
Restaurants on the way: The Restaurant La Finestra is located right next to the top station of the gondola lift. The Gasthof Geisler is only a hundred meters away. At Skihütte, there is the Berghotel Schlemmer. Please check opening times.
Plose Hut and Plose Peak
The hike to the top of the Plose is worth all the way for it‘s simply fantastic panorama. Once you have reached the Plosehuette, you have a marvellous view of the surrounding mountains, including the Dolomites and other famous peaks.
Height difference in ascent and descent 500 m, distance 5 km; path No. 7, alternatively path No. 3
Description: From the top station of the cable car, take the route No. 30 for a very short while northwards. At the curve follow the signs for path n° 7/3 which take you southeastwords and then uphill. Path No. 7 crosses the south-east hillside of Schönjöchl and takes you to the same named saddle. Path No. 3 (steep!) takes you on top of the Schönjöchl, where you have really great views of the surrounding landscape. Both paths join again at the saddle below the Schönjöchl from where they take you to the Plose hut (2445 m). Just a few hundred meters away there is the Mt. Telegraph, 2486 m high. From there you can enjoy the spectacular 360° view of the Dolomites and Zillertaler Alps. The panoramic table will help you to identify and locate more than 100 peaks that you can see. It takes at least one hour to visit the panoramic table.
